We did some further improvements to the village, such as starting on a park. This place is starting to look great.

Oh and please don't put glass right next to the ladders, it takes too long to climb down so I always jump and land on the bottom (it comes with the occasional miscalculation and resulting death but it's worth it)

No problem, I'll put a water plunge next to it. You can drop down to the bottom in safety, I don't fall and lose the almost 20 XP levels I have at the moment, nor do I have to trudge back to the city to grind the rest of the way up to 30 and enchant something every time I hit a few coal pockets, fight some mobs, and smelt a few things to get over 10 XP levels.

Anyone know if the old minecart-ladder trick for rapid ascent still works? I could put one of those on the other side of the ladder.

Minecart trick? I know water ladders and most similar tricks no longer work but I don't recall a minecart one.

No, neither do I... Try it in a creative world... Never heard of it.

Well, while SW was at the dig site, I was with Sret discussing the next step in the village... I think by the end we spent more time talking than any digging or building... But hey, it was time well spent :p

You can balance a minecart on top of a ladder every 4 or 5 blocks, then sit in a minecart, point directly up, and just click to jump from one cart to another much faster than climbing a continuous ladder. I know it got broken for a while when they removed the ladder's collision box, but now that ladders can be stood on top of and such again, they should work. It supposedly works with boats too, but they have a tendency to get accidentally broken.

Oh, the quick minecart transport Very Happy I'd never considered using them as vertical transport... I believe that could work quite well

Indeed, it's important to have fun Smile

The minecart thing sounds neat, I've never tried it but would love to.

Got on today and started to put the finishing touches on the Ice Tray. I got most of the pistons installed but it is not fully usable because I screwed up the circuit and made it self powering. Still the thing makes ice, so I brought over one of the silk touch picks for future farming.

Also while I was on, I tamed a wolf in the winter biome and there is another nearby. This means that we can start to farm wolves, although I don't know if they will be loyal to me or not. If so we can find two wolves for everyone who wants wolves.

If you own both, baby will be yours... If I own one, you own other, it's a 50/50 I think...

I popped my head in for (literally) 30 seconds, just cause I saw someone online while trying to get a friend's server working... Was arrow, probably working on his ice farming project Smile

Don't worry, I'll be on in maybe 2-3 hours to get some server work done

I had a wolf for a while. Problem is, there's a bug in the game where sometimes when you get far enough away for the chunk where the wolf is left parked to get unloaded, when you return close enough for that chunk to load again, the wolf instantly teleports to you. This can lead to a lot of annoying trips to take the wolf back to where he was left sitting, unless we build some sort of wolf kennel far, far from the rest of the city's work areas. Maybe way out at the end of one of the bedrock mining tunnels?

On my other server, one of my friends was only able to find one wolf, so we bred it with one of mine, and the puppy was indeed loyal to my friend instead of me. There is apparently a 50/50 chance which player the puppy will be loyal to when two players' dogs are bred together, but each player who wants to have dogs will still have to tame at least one wolf themselves.

Today after putting more work into the village and making a few trips to the main storage we got some digging done and turned the old mushroom farm at the digsite into a cobble storage (more chests can be added) as all the cobble chests are full.

The new update will apparently be adding the ability to dye the dog collars different colors, so we could at least pick a color for each of us. Dibs on dark green.

If red (along with blue) wasn't the primary colour in most games I would've picked that as it's one of my favorite colours too =p

I don't know if the collars will use the dye colours but the darkest blue is the regular one from lapis lazuli, other than that there's cyan and light blue
