Re: So what did YOU do today?
I only got time to show Bran through the main bits of the city... Through the entrance, dome, portal, farms, throne room, store room, forge, farm caves... I didn't get time to show the atrium or anything though. Everything else can be found quite easily
I haven't played for a few days because I've had friends over constantly. Hopefully I can get back into it soon

Today I logged on, thought about doing some mining, then decided against it and went for a ride somewhere and ended up in a car accident. Lesson learned: Always choose Minecraft, life might kill ya! (I'm okay though)

Good moral, and glad you're alright You're less likely to kill yourself if you don't leave the house :p Just take care not to be one of those people killed in toilet related incidents (they kill more people a year than shark attacks... and we have a lot of sharks down under).
Now, what does everyone think of my idea to make the forge like 20000000 times bigger than it already is? I'm online now (for once :p ), but if everyone thinks I'm just plain stupid (in the idea, not in general... I know I am normally ) then I don't want to start working on it, and I'll do something else...
Sorry for my absence... I've been busy, and had priorities elsewhere

I think 20,000,000 is a bit outrageous for a simple forge. :/

Hmmm... well how about my original plan for expansion? I posted it a while earlier

Glad you're okay sret Was the (if any) other driver okay?
Also is it already going to be taller? And then make it maybe, 10x bigger?

Oh I wasn't the one driving. Everyone is fine though, with the exception of a possible whiplash or two =pBran2939 wrote:Glad you're okay sret Was the (if any) other driver okay?
I still think expanding the forge is a good idea.

Good to hear, on both accounts. Because everything in the city looks better on an epic scale Damn I love that smiley haha.

Re: So what did YOU do today?
It would be fitting to make the whole forge larger wouldn't it.....Brendanan wrote:Hmmm... well how about my original plan for expansion? I posted it a while earlier
I really only have two issues with the idea you proposed. The first is the fact that we would have to destroy parts of the forge that have already been build. The second issue is the practicality of having that many furnaces. As it is, the forge room has more furnaces than we will ever need.
If more people get on board then I guess things would move fairly quickly. At our current rate of completion it would likely draw the forge project out for a long time, just like the farm caves. Basically, I am all for expansion if everyone agrees.

Re: So what did YOU do today?
The furnaces that are a part of the store room are more than sufficient for the city as it is, so everything in the forge is overkill... It's more for the aesthetic purposes...
And it woulddraw it out a little, but not excessively so. The extra work destroying bits is just something we'll have to deal with. I'd rather put extra work into it and have it looking a ton better, than have something we know we could have donw better on

Maybe we don't need furnaces.

That was a joke right? :p
Anyway, I've already started on the expansions... not gotten very far, but I've started...
I've dug out to the left hand side the starts of the furnace rows, we need to do the same for the other side too

Re: So what did YOU do today?
We could have great lava falls coming from the walls, falling into long pits like big moulds or something, with ornate fountains of lava ect.

I really like how you decorate the massive halls... Not too much excess colour and materials, and extremely effective

No idea. (Do we need any more rooms? )
Anyway, I prefer to test things in creative first to see if the combinations work
@Brendanan
IMO dwarven cities should be built from stone, not from fancy metals.

Beacon room hall maybe? First link was what I kinda had in mind, more of lava coming out of faces in the walls though, like my previous idea for beacon hall, 2nd link for new idea of beacon hall Beautiful pictures.

Re: So what did YOU do today?
That was actually the first thing I tried to do when I found the new ip but it wouldn't let me update the post, saying I need admin to do it... The admin settings on this forum have always been a bit odd so I'll let Bren try and update it as he's the original admin.

Re: So what did YOU do today?
I'll give it a shot later :p
Anyway, I got online today to do something More progression has been made with the forge... Did a lava mines trip, and trust me, an inventory full of lava really doesn't go far! Got the furnaces for one complete new row up, as well as a few furnaces here and there for another couple of rows... On the left hand side (from entrance), there are all the rows of furnaces started. On the right hand side there is still one more to be added before we start the store room. We've gotta widen the lava pool by 8? blocks or so, which requires destroying (at least partially) the furnace rows opposite.
