Re: Server updates
The server seems to be down, and not wanting to restart. It's giving a message it doesn't usually give me, so if the problem hasn't been fixed within an hour or two I'll contact the support team

Re: Server updates
I don't know how long the server has been down but apparently they were doing some maintenance 20 hours ago or so.
Bren, I read that the error we're getting is shown when the server is down to install stuff and when something's been changed and this continues to happen it means something is wrong and support has to be contacted. Since they were doing maintenance yesterday it seems like this is plausible and I would definitely suggest we get in touch with the support asap. I do however have to leave now so it's up to you or it'll have to wait till I get back later.
Btw, the server costs are paid now so we're set for a while again

Re: Server updates
I don't know if Bren talked to support but the server seems to be fine again so we should be alright.

Re: Server updates
I just got a mail from our hosting company. They have given us 1 month's server time worth of money as a compensation for the recent issues. Good news are always welcome, right?

That's pretty awesome That means it's another month before we need to pay again

the new ip is 66.223.16.151:32065
Someone please change this in the main "Server and Ventrilo Information" post in the "Information about the Project" forum. Only admins can do so, or I'd do it myself.
Re: Server updates
I actually tried to change it right when we got the new ip, but for some reason it wont let me.

Re: Server updates
Lately on the server I have been experiencing awful lag and persistent crashing. By lag I do not mean FPS, my computer is more than capable of smooth framerates, instead I have to dig and place blocks multiple times before my actions are permanent. The game is also crashing quite often while I am on the server.
On singleplayer the game runs normally which leads me to believe that the issue is on the server's side. The area of the server that I have been working in is the spawn village. I am starting to think that most of my problems come from the massive population of chickens that reside there, but I am not sure. Is anyone else having these issues?

I had a crash earlier today but hadn't done any actual work and wasn't watching when it crashed so i couldn't tell you if it was the same problem. I was in the city's main storage room fyi

Re: Server updates
The only issues I've had have been the normal connection failures, caused by a dodgy Internet browser

Re: Server updates
I'll have to try moving away from the spawn village and seeing if that fixes it. There are a lot of chickens there.

Re: Server updates
Official update version 1.5.2 is now out, a simple bugfix update for the most part. But it may not be compatible with our current server-software version, so don't update your personal copy of the game until the server is updated and confirmed working right.
Re: Server updates
Yeah. I restarted the server earlier today (which seems to be the method of updating), but didn't get a chance to play... Does it work?

Yes, the server works, albeit apparently still on 1.5.1, since I haven't updated my client yet and didn't get any sort of indication that the server was on a new version.
Re: Server updates
It's now been properly updated to 1.5.2... enjoy bug fixes

Re: Server updates
The latest snapshot changes the recipe for a couple of potion ingredients. While we don't bother with golden apples, we do use glistering melons in the splash potions for the XP grinder. And glistering melons are going up in cost from one gold nugget to 8. Nearly an entire ingot is not worth wasting on killing a handful of skeletons, so we should probably make a few stacks at least of glistering melons with the existing cheap recipe before the 1.6 update hits and the price goes up, similar to how we made a crapload of books before the recipe changed to require a piece of leather.
Re: Server updates
That's bananas. Very stupid update, costing gold at all is stupid enough as it is.
