We have ventured far and wide for many generations, from what was our once sacred land, the Nether, a paradise stretching for many miles, in the deepest caverns of the world...Sparkling waters flowed from mighty waterfalls, and vast oceans spread amist the floating lands of our former kingdom. And we built. We built far and grand, and formed the greatest structures known to the civilisations of the world. We truly had sanctuary there, it was the safest place in all the lands, and people would come from far and wide to live in our glorious haven.
But then the unthinkable happened. What we never even knew possible, the possibilities we had rashly threw aside. It was as if something more dreadful and dark than hells wrath itself opened up its doors on us. Our purest of homes and hearts, and most noble of soul... All moral was plucked from our once holy people. Rumbling, ground shattering tremors rocked the caverns, and hellish screeches echoed as if the walls were grinding..
Our great green grass-like moss which had covered our fields had turned to neverextinguishing rock, ignited by the fires caused when our water turned to lava..Our mighty sands absorbed the very souls of those who were consumed in them, and became cursed. Our cities fell. Our kingdom fell. Our armies, our dormant armies which we never even had the consideration of having to use for many millenia, fell. And they fell to the taint of this darkness which had spread. Nightmarish monsters appeared, and our citadels and caverns were lost, the very caverns we forged for generations. Even the most mighty of kings, fell to this evil, and they became deadly and twisted, and were unrecognisable, known as Withers.
And so we travelled, what was left of us, we did indeed. For years we fled along the surface, some of us chose to make home and set up villages, however we, we were destined to rebuild our lives. Only when we were what seemed worlds away from our desolated land, would we dig down into the earth and create a new greatness. And we found something, something most strange indeed. A portal. Some brave souls ventured in, and found, spread vastly across this land, more portals which led back to the surface of the world. We recognised this land, this ancient land, it was the Nether. We destroyed the portal we had found, and after much consideration, decided to recreate one in our new city, so that we could gain some territory back in this decietful place and collect valuable resources that were unique to our land.
That is an interesting one. The nether a haven gone wrong? hmm. Not bad, anybody else?

You win! I think we can stick with that story, and refine it a bit. Make it that the nether portal was destroyed out of fear, and then later curiosity took over and they began to experiment into how to make the portal again...
Also considering adding descriptions of the creatures in the nether... Hoards of undead, fire resistant men (that smell oddly of pork), flying monsters that launch explosive fireballs... etc etc

Re: Dwarven Journals
It was rushed, so I probably left a lot out. Thanks for all the complimenties, does anyone else want to take over? If not are there any other areas to work on other than the portal and creature descriptions?

Re: Dwarven Journals
Well... this is essentially going to be the background story on our people...
So this is my idea of how it will turn out, long story short:
The nether used to be a beautiful world carved by the dwarves
disaster
most of the dwarves wiped out, a few escaped using a magic portal to (overworld)
Spend generations wandering the land, taking refuge, surviving
The stories of the old world are passed down
Portal discovered, raises curiosity, a group decide to recreate the dwarven empire...
US!

No, I was thinking of reworking the nether portal bit... was just a random suggestion... and because I was too lazy to make anything make sense, you got a shitty dotpoint version by meBran2939 wrote:A plothole is amist in our plot! They weren't shit.

- All ideas need building up from the beginning, so hold on to that idea you are thinking, at first we wont look like we are winning, but over time you'll be thinking "pfft. Losing?".
