dwarven Power station.
since the server has been down i have been working on things to add to the city
i am still not happy about the lower floor the light is just not strong enough to stop mobs from spawning but im still working on it.
Built in a 39 diameter cylinder chamber with a dome roof the dwarves generate power for their city with a steam and red stone powered generator.

Wow! That's a pretty cool concept (am I the only one reminded of the death star?) and you spent so much work on it. I'm definitely positive about something like this.

Re: dwarven Power station.
Could make some fancy redstone system in there with flashy lights and hums and wires made out of repeaters, all for looks
And power measurement devices, of course!

Re: dwarven Power station.
The "generator" has a series of pistons that push the redstone ore blocks in and out.
(the lamps on the generator flash on and off as well)
There is also a control switch that turns on and off the flow of lava and water as well as the generator itself.

Looks awesome, can't wait to stick it in, where do you think it should go?

If you've seen our storerooms you might have seen that we have about 45 double chests of cobble stone.
Each chest has 6*9 = 54 stacks of cobble. 54*45 = 2430 stacks of cobble. That makes about 155.520 cobble blocks. Not sure if we want more :S

we dont want more!? you sure about that? :p haha...
it actually looks really cool now i got billions of ideas But if it does get implemented, it will be a LONG time... We gotta finish the housing, and the farm lake... and then things will change from there *hint hint*

We could put the obsidian generator there, though.

Perhaps we can put this, the obsidian generator, and the forge all in the same area.

I've made a quick version of my design in my redstone test world.
All stuff around it isn't necessary but just for looks. It includes a safety system that locks doors, makes an alarm sound and makes lights blink while it is on.
Here's the download, instructions are on the wall inside.
Edit: Terrible video, but you get the idea.

Re: dwarven Power station.
I was thinking trying to put it somewhere around either the hub of the forge, if it's near the hub then we could move the tracks (again ) to circle round it, maybe we could redesign the whole junction to fit this around it?

Forge.... Or on the other side of housing... Or on the way to the underground lake... Have the path circle round the room

Since this room seems to be purely decorative with no actually survival benefits (which is fine), I definitely think that it should be something that you have to cross through to get to something else. It would be a shame for us to build such an impressive room just to have it set aside from everything useful.

Re: dwarven Power station.
Well since its got 4 entrances at the top level and two at the bottom. ( because of its diameter the spiral stairs down the sides block 2 walls at the lower level.)
Sure we can attach it some where to the city maybe we need to come up we a few more locations so we can see where it would logically fit but at the moment it could sit between the atrium and the farm island (just leave a long enough corridor between the two) and we could build it later.

Maybe put this is in the farms, a sort of terracing sort of farm. Instead of a humble abode it shows mastery of farming, what we love to do.
EDIT: As in mastery.
