Re: So what did YOU do today?
It changed ages ago... I think it's a similar thing to the half slabs of wood... There was a stage where they decided to start making everything that should be chopped by axes, choppable

Re: So what did YOU do today?
Hey everyone. I got on today hoping to find some motivation to do something productive. I am trying to get back into the swing of things and going straight back to digging is.....distasteful. It's obvious that we have hit something of a slow period in the project, and I think it's because of the lack of diversity nowadays in the project. Before, you could take a break from digging and go gather resources or design something. Nowadays we have but a single priority, digging, so it's harder to find the motivation to play.
Anyways, I was just proposing that we have some other small priority in the project that we can go to when we are tired of digging. Obviously digging is still top priority, its what we signed up for, but some other small thing could help keep activity up.
On another note, does anyone know where the nearest snowy biome is? With the new patches ice has become a farmable resource and I would gladly set up a farm for it.

Re: So what did YOU do today?
Well, there is a case of trying to breed villagers...
I forgot to update the small amount of play I got...
It involved making a large pen for villagers with fences, then realising they need to be within city boundaries to breed. I relocated them to a pen outside the village... So, now we have a ton of minecart track to pick up..
Anyway, the villages breeding and trading is another small project

On the top floor of the first section of mines, there's an extra staircase up one more level, at the top of which is a ladder. That ladder takes you to an ocean off the coast of a Taiga biome, with snow and wolves and such. It shouldn't be too difficult to put a better access ladder somewhere further along the mines to the actual land, and then build an ice farm there.
Ice apparently makes stuff in flowing water move faster. I have long wondered if it would be worth it to line the bottom of the canals in the item grinder or the XP grinder with ice to move the mobs to their doom that much quicker, and thus improve efficiency.
Re: So what did YOU do today?
Yes, it does move items in flowing water faster... unsure about mobs though

Re: So what did YOU do today?
Does it?
What affect would it have if they are trying to fight the water though? All well and good for us trying to get faster, but for those not trying

VICTORY!!! Completed that assignment (started last night, due in a couple hours), and it's now mid semester break, so I got a week to relax (if I get that time), which means I can finally pay some attention here get a shit ton more digging done, and hope someone else knows enough about villager breeding, and they're not bugged, to get us some emerald

Re: So what did YOU do today?
I wouldn't go uploading anything advertising us just yet... I'm thinking of having a really good montage and clips kid of thing that showcases it in a way that makes it look epic (so video editing crap and all that junk)....

Re: So what did YOU do today?
And unfortunately, villager breeding is a lot more complex than just throwing doors in... I don't fully understand everything that contributes, but from what I do understand, the ones we have already should be breeding

Re: So what did YOU do today?
Depends :p That's why I said we didn't need tobother about it too much... I don't see the point of small videos that look more like someone walking us round their world, for something that is as big as this (and I'm hoping that upon completion of the caves we can get a large number of new members along)

Re: So what did YOU do today?
So, my day was afk...
I found someone had decided to make a diamond pick (please don't be doing that! We've got enough already) into a fully enchanted one. it's now efficiency IV, and unbreaking III. Since I had to go out, I stayed afk in the grinder, and after 20 minutes of screwing around, I finally killed all the mobs, and enchanted 2 pices of armour (after the pick... my armour all died), and also a new bow (that one died too). Finally got all that sorted, and tried to see if we could get us some baby villagers... So I sat afk in a tower up top, and waited... we've got a small but healthy population now... I think about 5 or 6, and a couple of babies

Re: So what did YOU do today?
Didn't you just complete a full set of enchanted armor last time you were on?
Where did you find that pick? If it was in the tools chest in the new storage it's probably the one I picked up from the main storage a while ago to deal with obsidian.

Yeah, that's where it was... either way, I didn't think we had any unenchanted picks (don't worry, it's now enchanted and will last a crapload longer
