Current Progress
Hey guys.
So, as we all know, the main point of focus with the city right now is the farm caves, and as a result, we really don't have much to do other than dig dig and dig, which, whilst is the main idea of being dwarves, does get a little monotonous and boring after a while.
Now, we are NEVER going to give up on completing the farm caves, even if everyone else leaves and it's left up to me to dig out a million stone (closer to 3-4million), however, I think perhaps it should not be the only thing we focus on. Instead, I think we should start other areas of the city, and have multiple different things we can do, all at once. That way, if you get bored of digging, there's a forge to design. If you're sick of decoration and design, there's emeralds we need to earn. If you're up for some monotonous digging, then by all means, there's plenty of that to go around. Want to dig, but would like something a bit more mentally involved? Well, then we have the shaping of the cave to do too. Want something different? Well, the farms always need tending to as well, and we've got a lot of stone that needs to make its way to the main store room.
Whilst we have come a long way from where we started, we still have a long way to go. We still do not have a dwarven forge!!! That, my friends, is something we need to remedy, so I believe we should finally get started on that. As someone mentioned, the nether base is a bit of a mess. Perhaps we should head to the nether and fix that up a little, make it look good (I mean, we do have a multi-storey nether farm, drywheat and fire-breathing chickens included). The spawn village needs a good amount of work done to it as well, which both Sret and I have been focusing on recently (and it's getting there), as well as many emeralds needed. Arrow has been working on harvesting us some ice, which can be useful for different things around the city.
Hopefully by tomorrow I have a thread up about getting the forge started sometime before tomorrow, where I'll try and get the more interesting points from previous discussions here and there about it, so we can get an idea of what this place will look like, and then put them to good use... get some stone burning...
What do you think guys?

Re: Current Progress
I feel like what we needed was a motivational post for people to start digging, as I seem to be doing 90 % of that on my own and it's killing my motivation so we're not really digging at all right now, but I suppose if we finally get this going it might help motivate people and hopefully they'll get the urge to dig again soon enough. We've been in the talks for this forge for ages. Let's get to it.

Re: Current Progress
There really isn't a way to motivate people to sit around all day and hold down left click... You've just got to be in the mood for it, and, when it's the only option, well... it doesn't help.
I'll dig around (heh, get it), for the information on the forge and get a thread up

More unmotivated, kinda like you... especially since I'm the only one risking digging the shaped stuff...

Re: Current Progress
I think Arro had a go or two at that too. I appreciate when you guys do that though and I try to make up for it by digging a lot in the main cavern. Perhaps we should try to have a digging party sometime, it's always easier when others dig too.

Well, if you get a forge thread up they only need to read the first post of this one anyway

Re: Current Progress
Nah, this is more of a super awkward conversation where a friend is with another friend who I don't know, and is flirting with me (hopefully as a joke), so I'm playing the game along, and I get confused as to who is who...
god, that just sounds creepy

I don't know anything about friends, but I'll just nod politely (it didn't have a nodding smiley so you got a bouncing one instead, yay!)
In other news, the server is back up!

Re: Current Progress
Yeah, I have been a bit unmotivated lately which is the reason for my absence. I am going to try to start to get on at least every other day and do server stuff. I lack patience and therefore any one project is harder for me to stay interested in if I don't change it up sometimes. I enjoy digging but it is not fun when it is your only option.
See you guys online.

So, other than adding the forge into the mix, what else should we get done too?

Re: Current Progress
Well, small things include the village and decorating places like the Atrium. If we wanted to start something else large after the forge we could build an arena and barracks of some kind. There are still plenty parts of the city too that are undecorated and patchy. I think that is the extent of current plans and I can't recall any more proposals.Brendanan wrote:So, other than adding the forge into the mix, what else should we get done too?

We still have a sign in the old, old zombie XP grinder across from the Dome Station noting that it is the possible future site of a library and/or trophy room.
Re: Current Progress
Actually, we were planning for the library to be separate and rather grand, which is the reason we made reed farms to create as many books as possible before the update that made them require leather was to come out.

Re: Current Progress
I still think the trophy room can be where the old grinder was. Just down a couple of stairs and into it...
The library, well, in some ways I'd like to have a large dwarven library, but in other ways it just doesn't seem to fit... dwarves and books...
