The Un-Welcome Mat
I had an idea for a mob repelling door mat. I got a prototype up and running in creative.
I used ovens to make a pattern to hide the dispensers.
standing on any pressure plate retracts the steps and starts the rapid fire arrow launchers. The switch on the wall is the safety switch to turn off the launchers.
and action shot of the mat repelling an iron golem trying to kill some innocent zombies.
a side shot of the wiring. Theres a piston repeater on the other side that fires the dispensers when the plates are active.

And that is just awesome! Do you think that could go just in front of the piston door? Firing both ways?

I can't decide what I like more. The name or the design.

Re: The Un-Welcome Mat
It was just a suggestion if we wanted to keep the moat. Either works. Then we ca link it to a switch in the guard room for firing

Re: The Un-Welcome Mat
Is it practical? The lava moat stops mobs, the mat needs activation
And we've always wante multiple traps

I know of some simple and pretty cheap piston traps that trap mobs that are 1x by 1z :3

Re: The Un-Welcome Mat
I changed the layout a bit now its a lava moat and arrow launcher.
We can set it up so the guard tower can control moat on off and launcher on off.
The moat can't be wider then 6 blocks.

So long as there's a quick and easy way to safe this system from outside. Because sometimes while exploring caves, I end up coming back via the surface, and sometimes that means via the front door.

That would be quite nice, sure that lava moat has killed me more times than creepers

Re: The Un-Welcome Mat
Ok, I say we instal it, but keep the lava moat...
at the 'T intersection', where the path splits off into two, and we have the "secret button" to the shortcut (SHHHH!!!)... That looks like the perfect place to install it, but have it so it can shoot down both ways in the hallway... you get what I mean? Then we can link it up to the guard room with a default on/off lever for it

but that would be pointing in, keeping us from leaving, or is that your plain?

Re: The Un-Welcome Mat
Lol... No, i was thinking that it activates as the enemies walk past... They leave the mat, then they get shot in the back by a volley of arrows from the unwelcome mat... and since we don't generally come up that way, we should be safe

Re: The Un-Welcome Mat
I would like to install it into the lava moat, the arrows can push back mobs trying to enter, and the lava will create flaming arrows.

Re: The Un-Welcome Mat
its installed!
This is by far one of the most complex things i have ever made, but its bad ass!
Theres 2 switches one forces the moat to stay down. The other disables the arrow launchers.
I also put in a button that will make the right side safe to pass for a few seconds. the button is accessible from the outside. i even added a light to show when its safe to cross.

Re: The Un-Welcome Mat
The mat works... Smartass creeper activated it while I was standing over the lava taking a look

Re: The Un-Welcome Mat
I've notice that the dispensers aren't firing arrows. Someone who know how it works should get to fixing it because I'd make it worse.

You'll see two levers on the wall near the chest and workbench. The one that is further from the entrance controls arrows (has the sign gone blank?). Lever off, arrows off, lever on (down), arrows on... Just to make things a little safer for us. The other level forces the drawbridge down on the left (probably should fix it up so it takes down both of em

All good... I'm one of the few that understand it properly, because I had to go inside and fix it a few times :p
