Our Mountain...in cross section

Well, I was riding the cart system today, and had the fright of my life. No, not the time I ran smack into a giant slime blocking the tracks. That's sadly routine. No, this was a world hole, one of those render errors where an entire chunk or two fails to load, resulting in a sky-to-bedrock hole in the world. Walk up to one and jump in, and you die. And this chunk error ran right across the tracks. Somehow, the cart continued on as normal and I sailed right over it. But this I had to get a screenshot of, and I did. Here's what a cross-section of our mountains through the cart tracks, main storage room, and the tunnel between dome and throne room looks like.






If you get a similar chunk error, grab a screen shot, and let us see. This can be an exploit-y but not technically cheat-y way to find caves, ore desposits, and so forth.

You die when you go into chunk errors? I always simply get stuck in them. Also it always seemed to work to ride minecarts through them, I frequently got them in the middle of an underground railway I had on another world.

I'll make sure to take a few screenshots the next time the entire area around the storage disappears. It happens quite often and it's not your ordinary chunk error, instead it takes out dozens of chunks but leaves parts of them..it's complete madness.

I've fallen into chunk errors and died in the past, although I forget if it was on SMP or single player. They certainly seem more common on SMP, but I've seen them on single player too at times. This was the first time I'd had the chance to ride a cart across one, though. Was disconcerting looking down.

I've fallen a few times while carving the setbacks into the atrium wall, and after one such, I was running through the dome to go get my stuff when I had one doozy of a rendering error and could see an awful lot of stuff through unrendered cave walls.




Another time parts of the atrium walls themselves failed to render, and this was the result. One heck of a lava lake down there by bedrock!

Had another fun missing chunk, this time right smack dab in the middle of the dome/lava-pit/dining center.
