Current Progress Pictures
Hey, can we get people to post pictures of the current progress please. If you do anything big, post it up to show us.
Here are some pictures i took of our current progress (IDK why, but it's only showing half -.-)
The store room:
The Main Cavern (Dome) (SD1AN admiring our handiwork)
The bridge over the soon-to-be-lava-pit
From Above
Lava Fountain
Pillars for the walkway (Will add more if people like it)

Re: Current Progress Pictures
We have at least 4 chests of this.
And we started getting rid of the scaffolding so about a third of the dome is done.

If it's not too much to ask, please use the default texture pack.

Re: Current Progress Pictures
We have stated in the past that we would like everyone to use the default pack when working on this project, so we all see the same thing. However, we can't stop you from using a custom one, but please at least use the deault one for pictures.

Re: Current Progress Pictures
Basically, everything needs to look good with default... I'll make an announcement so everyone knows this
Re: Current Progress Pictures
Well, here's the lower entrance tunnel as seen from the entrance hall:
And here's the entrance hall with the dome completed and the scaffolding mostly removed:
And here's the entrance hall a few minutes later, when we decided to use it as a temporary tree farm until the main tree farm can be dug out lower down. Anyone else reminded of the great 70's sci-fi film "Silent Running"?
Don't worry, none of the dirt under those trees even penetrates the floor. They can and will be cleared out soon, we just ran plumb out of wood in the middle of the night and needed something to do while we waited for dawn so we could go out and harvest trees on the surface. The entrance tunnels are visually spectacular and awe-inspiring...but horrifically impractical. Granted, we're DWARVES, we shouldn't NEED to go to the surface quickly or frequently, but for the time being, we do. Maybe we should look into some sort of at least temporary ladder-based system?
EDIT: Syptos has posted his own pics of this room: https://mcdwarves.forumotion.com/t105-dome-all-done-i-think

I don't know who changed the entrance, but I liked the old pillars much better. This is how it looks now.

Yes, I believe that we need something that stands out a little more, and shows off

I'll see if I can come up with something.Brendanan wrote:Yes, I believe that we need something that stands out a little more, and shows off
Edit* I redesigned the entrance. I hope everyone likes it.

That's a huge improvement. I'll have to log on and take a good look at it, but I like what I'm seeing.

Re: Current Progress Pictures
We still need a main entrance that keeps the monsters out. Getting sick of being chased by creepers every time I try to come up and chop some wood. On the other hand, with the chicken coop now producing feathers at a good clip, I finally can have a bow and reliable supply of arrows, so this is much less of a concern now that I can simply shoot creepers from a distance.

I could build a lava moat across the doorway with a piston bridge.

Re: Current Progress Pictures
I mentioned this in another topic, but we could also build a simple gate with fences, and sticky pistons below to retract the fences when people want to get out, either works fine, although the lava might look cooler

I had some ideas about this. Seeing that Brendanan does not like the idea of small doors, the most effective solution becomes a lava moat. I also like the idea of having some towers coming off the mountain side above the front entrance. You could see and shoot hostiles from here, though once all the farms and such are moved down to the main living space it won't be as crucial.

Re: Current Progress Pictures
How have I missed all this stuff!? My notification stuff must be dodgey!
I like the idea of a lava moat or something. The current entrance looks good, but I'm not opposed to changing it up a bit.
1st attempt we had a lake and waterfall

Lava > waterfall in a dwarven city

Re: Current Progress Pictures
This has little to do with current progress, but I was passing the egg factory, and what do I see? A whole family of squid spawned in the water of the system, and got dumped out with the eggs. I put mommy, daddy, and little baby squid out of their misery, and added their ink sacs to the supply of dye in the farm.

Today, Splated and I completely moved the enchantment room and made I adjustable. It now has more control over the level of enchantments and you can get enchants as low as 8 levels. Here are some pictures.
Lowest power
Full power.

Awesome!
Previously you had to pick away the enchanting table and place it somewhere else, this is nice!

I stated in another thread that if you place torches, it blocks the bookshelves. Adjustable as far as you want

How about a drawbridge with lava mote? ( I think that's how you spell it?) I know how to build one simply or complexly but the complex one is better. (Advance redstone) Maybe a big ravine instead of lave?
Then it would still look sick but also be effective.
