Updates Discussion

So, the updates for minecraft are coming hard and fast, and a lot of them seem like they could be rather useful. Pretty much here is a thread to discuss them...

I haven't seen anything in the 1.4 snapshots yet that would require us to update to a new map. But several of the new blocks and items being added will be quite useful for decorating our dwarfy city.

Item frames will make awesome signs in corridors and storage rooms.

Flowerpots will be great for decorating the new village and park, and possibly even the Throne Room.

Cobble and mossy-cobble walls will also look nice around town and in our larger rooms and walkways.

I forgot about flowerpots... they'll be awesome for the village...

I already have plans for the cobblestone walls being used for a cemetery. Really looking forward to those actually

I feel like I've missed the flowerpots, I've wanted those for ages so it's about time!

I also can't believe I forgot about item frames, those are gonna be great as well. Same with the walls.

Item frames add so much decoration potential... also good for chests

I do remember those. While we were digging earlier I was day-dreaming of riding into our village on a pig

I wish we could ride cows and sheep too, I like those way better

I would almost go as far as to say pigs are useless... but... everyone loves bacon!!!

Exactly, they're just there to feed us.

And leather is becoming more useful with each update. We should start farming it a lot. Pigs on the other hand, we have no use at all for. They try to make up for it with riding but I don't know... they should make them drop leather too or something to justify having them. They used to be probably the best food source but now they're redundant.

Minecraft, the only game in the world that can get me excited for flowerpots.

I'm still undecided on whether that makes it the most brilliant or most evil game out there.

No, but I do see it as a kind of comedic rip-off of an epic adventure movie
