Dwarven Journals Empty Dwarven Journals

I didn't know which section to put this in, but since it's not directly related to the city, and more just a background thing, it can go here.

Basically, this is where you can write up some journals or diary entries related in some way to the city, or create some history, stories of epic battles, the origin of the dwarves... anything you want... I might write something up later

Idunno if I publicized this idea but I was thinking everyone having their own book+quill and then having certain days per month or something to share? XD Like a book journal club, for dwarves..

I don't think anyone has had time and it hasn't been prioritized either.

Alright guys, I feel like doing some writing, so I'm going to do some journal entries on the construction of the city...

Now, my old history of the dwarves was rather dodgy and uninspiring, so I was thinking of changing it...

Are we: elites of the dwarven civilisation who left the main home, or are we survivors of a major disaster that destroyed the previous city and wiped out the majority of the dwarves?

Or are we both? Survivors often survive for a reason Wink

I like both options really, there's just something really cool about survivors. Elites who left the main home sounds a bit... snobby, but if you can find a good story to justify it then it could work. I suppose the downside with the survivor idea is that it's rather gloom, not that that's necessarily a bad thing...

For the leaving, I'm thinking that perhaps we were adventurous dwarves, looking for an escape from the monotonous lives that we had, and seeking gold and glory

Adventurous, I like that. And we managed to create something much better than the original home

Adventurous middle-class dwarves who left to become the elites at a new settlement?

Middle-class? Do dwarves even have hierarchies like that?

Well, maybe not classified as middle class, but nothing spectacular... They make a living mining and working metal, but they're not the best... Then leave the main city to become something more...

Or... Elites that, say, were out of the city dealing with some problem, and came back to find the city in ruins

Not that they wouldn't still have to do that too =P

That sounds like a cheap way to combine elites with survivors...

If they got elites, they got non-elites and not-quite-elites.

But maybe we should stick with the "survivors of a disaster" angle. Zombies ate our old city, and constantly threaten to overwhelm our new one, but that's why we light everything well (ha!) and fortify our lone entrance.

I didn't think he meant literally when he said elite, but I get your point.

Survivors because of the zombies and other vile creatures could make sense given the constant threat they pose, although I'm not sure if zombies attacking dwarves would sound right in a story. It is however reality in Minecraft so why not I guess

How about a dwarf fortress type story. We left to make another settlement for our great civilization that would become a major city and empower the great dwarven empire.

I couldn't decide between disaster survivors, and new dwarf fortress story, so I flipped a coin. I'm currently writing it as the dwarf fortress version, but it's easy enough to change it if it's the preferred option

Perhaps multiple people can write a first entry and whichever is most popular can be the official start
