Re: Dubstep and electronic music
Dubstep is occasionally interesting from a technical standpoint but rarely what I'd call GOOD.
But then I listen to opera metal, so what the heck do I know?
One of my favorite bands at the moment is Globus, aka Immediate Music. They got famous for writing epic orchestral/choral music for movie trailers, then decided to re-work their tunes into the most epic pop music ever. It's what I mostly listen to while playing Minecraft. Some highlights:
The lyrics for the last couple of songs are in the descriptions on the youtube pages, but the rest should be visible onscreen in the embedded player.

I can imagine that's how it'd sound like if Nightwish tried to make movie trailers

I've said it before and I'll say it again; The Cat Empire must be the greatest band name of all time (too bad I can't say the same about the music) also props on the Star Wars song

Re: Dubstep and electronic music
It's not just the star wars song, it's just one of the more epic ones. London symphony orchestra's movie music composed by john williams (jurrasic park, harry potter, star wars, indianna jones, schindlers list, ET, jfk, 2 olympic themes... the list goes on)
london philharmonic does the most epic videogame music. The tetris theme is just my favourite, but it does a sweet angrybirds and battlefield and COD wich are both epic pieces
You don't liike cat empire music? Again, that was just my favourite, but they have a large variety of styles and songs, more than just that kind... I'm sure there'd be something that you might be able to handle ;p

Re: Dubstep and electronic music
Will give it a listen at a time I wont annoy the whole family, and i've got some quiet
I am a musician who plays orchestral music, so, that kinda leads me that way I don't like all the computerised, or dubstep style musics generally... and hate the heavy metal and screaming

Re: Dubstep and electronic music
In what way does it make you want to kill yourself??? I like that style more for the lyrics, but I enjoy some of the musical stuff in it...
I also enjoy playing in the orchestras for musical theatre more for the fun aspect than the music aspect though.
And as promised, I will listen to your links

Re: Dubstep and electronic music
Alright, fine.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcBTkpSn1QY that's my all time favourite band, and unfortunately the only one that doesn't sing in english... (I usually hate when people sing in swedish, but these guys are gods)
...except for this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATTVH410MOk when it comes to these guys, I have no idea what they're singing, but that doesn't bother me at all. it's also one of my favourite bands
You could say I have 3 favourite bands nowadays (not counting older bands I love) and this is the third one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbw1pGUhG7Q these guys do sing in english (except for in their newest album)
And a few examples from the other style of music that I love:

Re: Dubstep and electronic music
Definitely gonna have to add Sabaton to the list of artists to check out on bit-torrent when I get my new compy. Thanks for bringing them to my attention, Sret. Now i just need to find my MP3 player, it's lost in the clutter of my bedroom somewhere.
As for my epic music, Bren, that's all one group, Globus. They've got two albums I know of, the first one is called "Epicon" and the second is "Break From This World". The first album has several songs that have no lyrics or at least no comprehensible lyrics, but the rest are so awesome lyrically I don't care. The second has a couple of songs that are too slow or otherwise not up to their usual standards which go on far too long, but the rest are so all-around awesome I don't care. Both albums are available on most better bit-torrent sites, or if you want them legally, I'm sure they're on iTunes and other legal download sites as well.

Re: Dubstep and electronic music
I'm happy they sparked your interest. They're quickly becoming big nowadays and deserve all the recognition they can get.
As for the bit-torrent talk; am I the only one who downloads songs exclusively from youtube?

I can't speak for Swedish Youtube, but in America, it takes special software or an external site to download a song from Youtube itself, although many songs these days will have a link to buy the song on iTunes. Personally, I refuse to use iTunes as part of my personal, spiteful, one-man boycott of all things Apple. Also I've been unemployed for several years and have no disposable income to spend on things like music, so bittorrent and the occasional external site-mediated rip from Youtube are my only realistic sources of mp3 files. I'm sure the artists and their companies would prefer I download and enjoy their music (and thus am able to give them word-of-mouth advertising like here) if the only alternative is I don't have easy access to them at all. Back when I was still employed, I exclusively bought CD's and never did illegal downloads. I'll go back to that if I can ever afford to.
