Well we have a long tunnel for getting to dwarf mining, so get to the end of the tunnel, then walk to new chunks

As more time passes, the dwarves realise..That they must journey further to gather the resources they (don't necesarily) direly need...

You know, that's probably my favorite post so far on this forum. Thanks for making it. Now, I wish spectrum could take it in and stop suggesting we reset each time a new update surfaces.

But that's just it. This whole project is a storyish thing. We're not just mining fanatics who wants our base to have large hallways, we're basically creating a dwarven civilization. Now, when you've explored and stripped an area of its resources, you logically have to move on to new areas to find more. You can't just reset the area back to what it was before, or make it a new one without actually moving to one. If you could actually do that, I would reset my fridge every day and never have to go shopping for groceries again Razz

You sir, are a genius! Why did I not think of doing that before? Now... Where do I find the save file for the fridge... hmmm.....

I'll be back in a few days guys, with perhaps the greatest mystery of life solved

But yes, he does have a point... The reason we are dwarves is for the whole story aspect of this. At one time I was making huge journal posts for my spelunking expeditions, and even wrote a (pretty dodgy) history of the dwarves. We've named the city "mons domus" to add to the effect, rather than just calling it the dwarven city. We even had a name for that giant gem in the dome (which I've forgotten)

How much of the story aspect is used? An idea I just had and I did on another server is personal journals for all the folk, and maybe died leather armour for personal armour of each dwarf. Getting too deep, nevermind XD

Well I've wanted to do like an official dwarven journals containing all the information in written books... Dyed leather armour could be awesome as well... And having an individual journal isn't at all a bad idea

IMO we should use the Dwarf Fortress month names(link) when we write dates in our journals.

So today'd be the 6th Opal, 252(250 + number of years we've been active) Razz

There should be a chest with books made before the update. I think it's a double chest full of book stacks Razz

I miss our little journal posts. Remember the nether one?

Also, I'm not sure we actually settled on a name for the gem, but if we did it was probably Puteulanus Astrum.

They were fun... I do like the idea of adopting the dwarf fortress calendar though... Haven't played it in a while :/

I guess I can do up a journal entry for dwarf mining and for the wither fight too Very Happy

I received a mail today saying that our server is amongst the minor amount of servers that will be affected by a move of some sort which apparently happens today. From what I gathered it seems like we'll get a new ip address and port, so if the server suddenly stops working you'll know why. I'll be away most of the day but I'll try to post the new information as soon as I can.

You do that. I think they were gonna give us the information on ClanForge so if you're around in the next 6 hours while I'm gone, and they update it during this time, feel free to sort it out =p

Actually I never heard more about it and nobody has mentioned having problems getting on so perhaps it wasn't needed.

Re: Server updates

I can't reach the server either. According to the server page it should be working and I haven't received information about an IP change. However, there's a different IP showing on the server information, so I would assume this is a new one. I tried it but still can't reach the server and for some reason it's refusing to restart as well. The port might have changed too but you only use the IP when adding the server so I don't know how to check that. scratch

The new IP is 66.223.16.151:32065. Let me know if it works.

Nope. And when I tried to use the Dwarf City vent last night (as a backup to my regular vent, which was down), it was down too. Not that anyone used the vent in ages, but still.

The vent was cancelled like a year ago. We can probably bring it back if the need ever arises.
