[EVENT] Enderdragon

Based on people's available times, I am going to propose another time. Only 3 people have let me know so far though, so it could be a small number coming along. THIS is why you need to check the forum regularly

I propose, assuming that sret is again available most times, that we try for 11am GMT on Thursday the 19th of July

So, we have found the end portal, so, what do we do now... what we've wanted to do for ages. Prove ourselves as dwarves and slay the dragon.

Now, we don't want just one person to have all the fun, do we? We want as many people on as we can, hopefully filling the server, so we can all go and destroy this ender dragon. Turn him into a dwarven pin cushion, and gloat in our victory.

Basically, give me the times you are available, and we can sort something out for when we can finally kill the dragon and prove ourselves worth of the title dwarves. I'll update the OP with times and dates. Please use GMT, if you don't know it, figure it out Here

You could just set up a page like this one here and with that everyone can see the time for their timezone.

I'm sure this will bring some much needed fun and people back to the server. After all, we've all been pushing for an event like this for ages. I say we do what's needed to make sure everyone who wants to take part of this gets the chance to do so, even if it means waiting quite a while for the perfect time (what's the rush anyway?)

I should be able to find a way to make it pretty much any day between 2pm GMT and 3am GMT. Not the best times for aussies I'm afraid, but hopefully after the next 2 weeks I will be available 24/7. Postponing rl stuff like sleep is okay for a one time thing like this.

Well, that's between midnight and one, so as long as it's a day I'm around, it could work. We'd need to have everything ready to go... chests of arrows and bows, and armour and food (you get the picture)

Since it's summer I should be available any time of the week, except for a couple days I work. Other than that I don't mind losing some sleep over it. It would be nice though if it didn't require me to get up super early though.

We shall need suits of diamond armor and perhaps a few enchanted swords. This dragon shall die.

Just don't do anything rash such as making diamond armor before we've discussed it through.

No, we do not need diamond armour... Iron will suffice

We can take this thing 10 on 1 here... A couple of health potions and a ton of arrows, and we can beat it easy. That's just a waste of diamonds making 10 sets of armour

Very true. After this dragon dies we can set up an End exp farm. Then everyone can use enderpearls to get around.

Still, they make for great transport. As long as you have food you should be okay.

Without diamond armor if the dragon flys through you you take damage. I know what im talking about.

The hard part of killing the dragon is smashing the crystals on top of the towers. Which is easily enough done with arrows, for the most part, but some towers are too tall or awkward to get the angle on and need to be scaled and smashed from higher up. In the meantime, you have to avoid both the dragon and the endermen around you. Especially if you have lag problems, you can easily end up not just dead, but tossed over the edge of the world, in which case, kiss all your gear and armor goodbye. For this reason alone, diamond armor should be right out. Iron armor is plenty to keep the dragon from doing any actual damage to you, just pushing you around a bit. And even diamond armor won't save you from endermen when one attacks you and the knockback makes you look at one of his kin, in a chain reaction that soon sees you mobbed.

Once the crystals are smashed over a wide area, the best bet seems to be to create a fighting platform protected by flowing water moats to keep endemen back when they accidentally get looked at or hit by arrows fired at the dragon. A couple of us armed with enchanted bows should have no problem slaughtering the dragon then.

Remember that we aren't fighting the dragon solo... hopefully, we will have 10 of us online all at once. (8 for the server, plus me and sret as OP, which can go on a full server)... That means we can split up and take out the ender crystals, and get rid of them before the dragon has a chance to do too much damage, which we can then just all turn and rain him with arrows

I think we should wear iron armor and wear a pumpkin on our heads. Because with a pumpkin on your head, you can stare at them as long as you want but they'll never attack you

If we can get a good amount of people together. Some of us can focus on the crystals while others keep the dragon at bay. I think the Dragon will turn away if it is damaged during one of its swoops. Once the crystals are gone. The dragon should fall very quickly. Also we should make plans to retrieve the egg (via piston I think) so we can display our victory.

Where shall we put it on display?

Throne room? Maybe somewhere more centered. As long as it is easily seen, any of our chambers would be fine.

On my other server, I went through the portal alone to smash the crystals ahead of time. I wore iron armor and a pumpkin. And got ambushed and killed twice by Endermen. Maybe they got mad at me for flinging arrows about with wild abandon while shooting at crystals. Maybe pumpkins don't always work in the End for some buggy reason. It did seem to help with the accidental glances in the direction of endermen. But it's not a perfect protective system.

I have put a proposed time for this event in the OP. Since no one has actually said anything about their times except sret, I have made a time and date that suits me and him... let me know if you can/can't. If you can't, what times can you?
