Re: Digging the appartments
cool I've been itching to either plant the rest of the floor with dirt or remove it
I think lava should probably be the last thing that goes in we don't want to loose stuff when it falls in. Particually while we are not 100% sure of what is getting done.
and i have fallen a few times already...
Though I might start collecting lava from nether so we have something to fill the lava pool with
when we are ready to commit to having lava at the bottom of the atrium.

Re: Digging the appartments
Oh, lava is definitely the last bit! The number of times I have fallen is ridiculous...
Also, what will we be doing about the lava/waterfall in the centre? Do we keep the water (I know how we can stop it destroying the entire lava lake if we do), or do we change it to lava, or do we completely remove it, and reshape the walkways?

I had an idea that uses pistons that you could use to turn on and off the lava and and water.
but i have not gotten around to doing it yet.
The water should not be a problem just need to put a ring of stone between the water and lava pool and it should be good.

Re: Digging the appartments
Last night I got on and looked at the example apartment to form an opinion. I think the current shaped is great and the layout is perfect. My only concern lies with the balcony which I think needs to be just a tad longer along the wall.
As for the walkways in the atrium, I think it would be best to put lava for the fountain in the middle so we can use it as lighting. I also think that if we removed the lava completely we could put a round tower going up the center of the atrium. Inside we could have the staircase along with occasional balconies and windows. This would give people a better reason to use the walkways in the center of the Atrium as opposed to just the sides.

Ok, i've tried out a new design for the staircases... This one isn't complete yet... It goes to the left then up, I want it to be symetrical... Not hard to do, I literally just forgot -.-
I have made both the apartments exactly the same, including the removal of the external stairs, and thus the balcony (without iron bars)

Re: Digging the appartments
I saw the example apartments for the first time yesterday. They look nice but I'm not sure if they're each 2 stories or if it's a little living room area that connect both levels. That'd be kind of cool, a little common room.

Each apartment is 2 stories high each level is going to have 8 apartments each
you have:
1 block for your floor
1 block for your ceiling
and the 7 blocks between them. (so each floor is 3 air high with a floor between them)
The apartments have been spaced so you don't share your ceiling with the owner above you or below
The examples just shows what you can do with the space and is supposed to be a guide for those digging out The apartment when the project gets green lighted.
Once finished players will be able to claim their own apartment to decorate.

Re: Digging the appartments
I think we keep it as an exact floor plan though, so you can add walls etc, but you can't dig further out. you are also sharing a wall with the outside, so you can't change the blocks in that wall either I dont believe... If no one has any more changes to make leave it a bit just in case), then perhaps we can go about copying the apartments for the lowest level

Re: Digging the appartments
nope, I think thy're ready to be dug, the sizes they are at the moment are the maximum allowed sizes, hence the irregularity in the walls, a lot of people might want to square them up a bit I imagine

Well, if we don't get any objections to starting digging, then let's go

Re: Digging the appartments
What are the floors and walls going to be made of? I'd like to go through and get rid of the gravel and dirt. I assume either smoothstone or stone bricks.

Ok guys, in case you've forgotten, we are digging 1st floor apartments now!!!all you need to do is replicate 100% with what we have there already if you don't trust yourself to do a manual copy-paste, then just clean the walls
