[EVENT] Dwarven civil war (postponed)

Post  Mimodo on Mon Feb 13, 2012 2:01 pm

Postponed until further notice

It seems that some people are starting to lose a bit of interest in this project. It's becoming more like 'work' and less like a fun time digging away with others who love minecraft as much as you. So, I decided we will start some regular events (at irregular intervals). Hopefully this can help everyone to get along better, and share different aspects of the game. We will try to get as many people on as possible.

Now, to kick things off, we will try do a melee, every man for himself, last man standing tournament. Hopefully we can have 10 of us (full server plus me and sret), and we go an all in fight to the death for a sole champion. The winner gets... Bragging rights... Just don't overdo it. we will fight in the throne room, scaffolding included. You are not to leave the room.

The rules:
1. One life only, once you die, sit outside and watch the fight continue.

2. Do not leave the combat zone (the throne room). You are free to move around the scaffolding, but don't leave the room, including via the caves.

3. Only take the preset inventory. Take any more and you are immediately disqualified.

This inventory is:
Stone sword
Leather armour
Unenchanted bow
16 arrows
Some food (probably 4 steak)

Amy suggestions for an improvement on this welcome

4. You can take any items dropped by other players, and use them as needed.

5. No teaming up.
Every man for himself means that you can't pick on someone. We will turn off the vent server to prevent any unnecessary chatter and possible cheating.

6. Don't talk.
We want to be able to see the deaths as they happen, without them going off the screen. This means everyone can see who is still in.

Now, the time for this needs to be decided. Probably the soonest we can do this (I really want to be involved in the 1st event) is at midnight on Friday (remember that midnight is the start of the new day) GMT. We will start promptly, so get in early to ensure a spot in the contest. Late arrivals will miss out. At least on round one.

Suggestions, comments, ideas? Let me know Very Happy

Just as an alternative suggestion if you're going into PvP, it might be easier to run and observe a tournament joust than a free-for-all general melee.

Hmmm... Maybe organise both.. Open with a melee, then begin a tournament,.. 1v1 knockout till we are left with two

See what people come up with. 12am Friday is actually Thursday evening. Either way, I'm free from about midnight on to 6am. Whatever works for most people is best.

Yep, but till then, we can use the throne room. You've gotta admit, it'd be pretty awesome on the scaffolding. A hit could knock you off and kill you. Or maybe the dome

As much fun as it would be, we probably don't want to fight over lava-pit obstacles. No need to lose more items doing this than absolutely needed.

True... Really all we would worry about is the leather, which can be a little bit of a hastle to make

No fighting over lava = no epic Star Warsesque ending to the battle. Sad

Good thinking, except it'd be very silly to have a bunch of people swim around in a pool below the battlefield all alive and everything. Also very confusing to the remainders. Unless it was a "last man on the platform" kinda thing. Hey, we should do one of those too! Very Happy

better than losing a bunch or leather armor and stuff, less of a mess as well. We should have it in the area of the zombie grinder. We can recreate the situation we had when we needed to clear it out but at the same time be fighting eachother

So basically different arena with different rules. Maybe boxing (no weapons/armour) up high, last man on the platform wins

We only need one arena, we could have a floor for fighting and a platform hanging above. We could also use the platform for that popular minecraft game "spleef" where you remove the ground until the other falls. That sounds like it'd be fun with a group of players.

I'm not following? The scaffolding in the throne room makes for a good platform, doesn't it?
