The Forge (efficient and user-friendly!)

Post  SDIAN(SD1AN) on Sun Feb 05, 2012 9:24 am

I just went into Creative to make a mock-up of a forge. I got carried away and made everything.
Here are some pics of the forge, with stats explained at the end.

The Entrance (ignore the 2x2 tunnel I call an entrance)

The Front Wall (opposite of the entrance wall)

The Left Wall

The Right Wall

The Center (4 gold blocks, we have enough)

This is a 10x10 room filled with furnaces, crafting tables where you need them and chests for smeltables. The reason I think this is efficient is because you stand in the center and you only need to walk 5 blocks to see one wall. This goes for the other walls, and the lava looks pretty awesome. Also.. in the pictures are...

8x4 Furnaces per wall = 32 furnaces per wall
32x4 Furnaces = 128 Furnaces in total

With 128 furnaces all accessible 5 blocks from the center, this is the most awesome and efficient forge a dwarf could have. (okay, there probably is better)
Note: Chests and Crafting Tables are NOT flammable. Don't freak out.
Note 2: Since the images won't resize, open them in a new tab.

The above has been changed to the Oven, a central part of the forge for major smelting. I've added some more rooms to make it a real forge.

Also, it's been converted to stone brick:

Chests have been moved and tunnels are now in place, for the other two rooms:

The Lava Cauldron:

Same room, lava processors: (the other side is exactly the same)

Lava Bucket storage in the cauldron area:

Storage Room:

Left Side:

Right Side:

Straight Ahead:
... no image? Well, it's the same design with 2 iron ore double chests and 1 gold ore double chests.

I feel like this is TOO small, opinions?

Yup, the ceiling is a bit low.. Could you make it like, 8 blocks tall or something?

Agreed, the ceiling is a bit too low. I like the design though... Can you make a sort of top-down sketch of where each part is located please???

I like it though

Well, instead of me doubling the furnaces in that room.. imagine it. Razz I'll do it later.

Sketch:

I apologize, the storage room symbol points to the Other Smeltables chests. :I It's supposed to point to the hallway.

P.S on the minecart tracks to the mine, I saw diamonds in a world hole, right next to the track. Now I have 4 diamond ores there, in safe place, with a sign saying "Please mine those with a fortune pick"
