As far as I'm aware, they are UNBREAKING diamond picks. I don't think uses matter. It's better to be sure that at least one stays safe constantly.

Im gonna set up a brewing station in there with instructions on how to make the potions

I think there is a brewing station in there already, and ingredients (I saw stuff like glistering melons).

Ok, well, you put netherwart in top (with 3 water bottles in bottom) once that done, the bottom will be awkward potion. Then put glistering melons in top. Then put gunpowder = 3 splash potion health

Glistering melons use gold, don't they? A material we don't want to use too much of..

got lots of in game excrecise as i started work on making a functional blaze spawner exp grinder.

died too many times to count each time resulting in a long run from the mine back to the portal room.

I have stopped the blazes from spawning will go back in to add the grinder next please don't remove the dirt.

it will be based on the Ethos blaze grinder which i have built before and work really well.

So far today I've spent quite some time in the exp grinder. Got myself to level 51 then enchanted a spare pick. It got Fortune III, Efficiency III and Unbreaking III.

I later accompanied Jeff to the nether to gather glowstone. It was a great success like always. Neutral

We gathered several stacks of glowstone dust, braving the nether building cobble platforms to reach the bright gold. Even managed to take down a ghast and get a ghast tear!

Then it all crumbled as the ghasts wanted revenge and when I thought I was safe I realized it was lagging. Suddenly my view switched from tranquility to a ghast laughing at my face as I was on the ground, burning and lifeless. Jeff tried to get away, but alas, the ghasts took out the ground below his feet and you can all guess how that ended.

As I got back there wasn't a single item to be found. At this rate the nether will be devoid of glowstone without any of it making it back to our storage.

It also turns out that somebody added a nice chicken coop to the nether base.

The Nether: Now with even more annoying animal sounds! Very Happy (I love it though)

That was Splated. I sort of stood around and watched, and did a tiny bit of the digging to help. But mostly I asked unhelpful questions about his dispenser-based egg-hatching system. Sorry about that.

I did later change the sign above the entrance to read "Fire-breathing Chicken Coop", an obscure Harry Potter reference.

Aside from chopping another half dozen stacks of lumber, I'm currently sitting in the XP grinder for the last time for what I hope will be a good long while, since I have gotten hooked on catching up with the Zero Punctuation vids I haven't been watching for the last six months. If you don't know Zero Punctuation, here's his review of Minecraft from a few months ago: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/2680-Minecraft

EDIT: Spent 49 experience levels on making and enchanting yet another diamond pick. I figured, we have a spare Fortune III pick now, time to go for a space Silk Touch one. What did I get? Efficiency III. And nothing else. Total waste of time and levels. Sigh. And now the first pair of Fortune and Silk Touch picks are gone from the warehouse. Who forgot to put them back?

Yesterday I built a nether chicken coop and finished the lava pillars in the throne room.

last night i checked out the new mine craft beta build, very cool. the zombies vs villagers is very interesting i was playing hardcore trying to defend my villagers from zombies breaking down the doors.

I'm looking forward to defending our city Razz

Today I tried to build a piston light control for the zombie spawner sort of worked.

A piston light control for the spawner room of a grinder is not a bad idea, but that pressure-plate-based switching system has got to go.

This morning I did another mostly-fruitless mining session at the old bedrock mine, and a little more resource stripping in the abandoned mineshaft under the dome. I finally found that spider spawner that had been eluding me. Turns out it's a giant spider dungeon, not a cave spider spawner after all.

I just finished mining a bunch of sandstone out from under the desert (don't worry, the surface is mostly unaffected) and using it to install an inlaid tile floor in about a third of the throne room. Let me know if that's an acceptable flooring pattern before I install the rest.

Here's my flooring pattern, a checkerboard of workbenches and sandstone. Double-slabs would also make a nice checkerboard, with either one, but I think this has a nice inlaid-parquet hardwood floor pattern.

I finally extended the minecart railroad out past the old bedrock mines to the new branch mines. Had a go at mining in them, didn't really like it. It was cramped, awkward to light, and when you break into a lava pocket, it's hard to back up fast enough to get out of the way of the flow, or have room to work in terms of filling it in.

I also finally found the Silk Touch pick. Someone left it in the item-retrieval-gear chest.

EDIT: Made another trip into the Abandoned Mineshaft. Cleared out the mossy cobble from two dungeon spawners I didn't have the inventory space to loot earlier. Found two diamond ore hidden under the floor of one of them, fortune-picked them into 6 diamonds. Clearing out the planks and fences from the nearby corridor, I found a vein of gold in the wall behind it. Dug that out...found iron behind that. Dug that out...six more diamond ore behind that! Fortune-picked those into 15 more diamonds, for a total of 21 from 8 ore. Came out at the end with almost a stack of planks, a stack of fences, a stack of coal, those 21 diamonds, and several each of iron and gold. I hadn't brought the silk touch pick with me (we only have one), so I left the redstone in the walls and floors for the time being. I'll go back and get them after dinner tonight.

Doesn't look bad, but it stands out a lot... Would it work going 4 block squares rather than single blocks???

after lots and lots of dying due to lava blazes i have constructed a blaze farm that is safe to use.

I have also build a new path to the fortress one that does not have lots of turns and steps.

now in the process of getting my own back blaze kind Smile

I've stuck my head in to the tile mart Smile i like the 2x2 tiles better sandstone and plan stone look nice but you dont have them in combination.

dont like craft boxes as tiles they look silly

I resurfaced almost half of the throne room with a new flooring pattern candidate. Realizing that I'd like to incorporate more obsidian and/or netherbrick into the pattern, I pondered which I should work on first. Knowing I only had half an hour or so at that point left before I'd have to log off, I went into Crawlspace Cave under the throne room with the Efficiency V diamond pick and went Obsidian Mining. Got set on fire and almost died thanks to the lava turning my first bucket of water into smoothstone due to poor water-source placement. Survived and modified my approach slightly. Ended up getting 63 obsidian, 8 iron and a handful of redstone before I had to go out to dinner with relatives.

Please gather obsidian safely... Either via redstone method, or normal lava + water. Gathering from caves is too risky

Today, I was going to try and make progress on the entrance tunnel. I eventually decided against it because we haven't really decided what pattern to do for the lower half and I didn't want to add the work of undoing what I placed.

Later I went to do some strip mining with a fortune pick. I ended up getting tired of it quickly, but I did find a diamond vein (14 diamonds with fortune III) before I left. I'll continue the trip next time I'm on.

Everything is so up-in-the-air right now, it's hard to find things to do that are productive.

Yes, it seems that we are just turning the throne room into tile mart, and discussing the new area... Most else is going by the wayside... But if we can get one job done, then we can move to the next. And at least people are being active in discussions Wink

Now please tell me you weren't using the fortune pick for the stone!!! And at this stage it's probably best to just take the silk touch with you. It means we can choose between the ore or the processed stuff (diamonds/lapis/coal).

For the last bit of the tunnel, I'd say we follow the design that will (I think it was him) made on the connection to the dome. It works there, so if we do something similar the whole way us it could work well. We certainly don't want something too different. If you wanna give it a shot, go for it Wink

I only used the fortune pick for things that It worked on. I would have used the silk touch pick but it was already with someone else. I figured If I'm going to mine I might as well get the most out of it.

For the tunnel, I assume you are referencing to the pillar/fire pattern? I figured it would be nice to change up the pattern after the second turn to fit the rest of the deep underground walls. One of the cons with the fire design is the obnoxious noise that the fire makes, something I hoped to keep away from the dome.

No, not that one. The pillar that is at the join of the dome and the entrance tunnel. I don't want to continue that other one the whole way
